When planning your wedding there are so many things to think about but your wedding stationery can really set the tone for the day. Your stationery is the first clue that your guests have as to the theme for the day so it is important to make sure that you give them all the relevant information. So what do you need:
Save The Dates
Usually sent one year before the wedding, save the date cards or often magnets are the perfect way to ensure that your guests can reserve the date in their diary and that there aren’t any holiday clashes.
Aim to post your invitations 10-12 weeks before your wedding with all the information that your guests need to know about your big day. Don’t forget to include details about RSVP deadlines, timings, how to get to the venue, gift lists, menu choices and the all important RSVP card with space for your guests to tell you about any special dietary requirements.
Order of Service
This is a useful guide for your guests as to what is going to happen during the ceremony, who is doing any special readings, hymns, if in church, and information about the rest of the day.
Table Plan or Escort Cards
Your guests are always keen to know where they are sitting so make sure that your table plan or escort cards are displayed in a prominent position in your reception space, and are easy to read and understand.
Table Names or Numbers
Instead of numbers why not have some fun in naming your tables – choose names that represent your theme or personal interests such as favourite films, places visited together or even football players!
Unless you are having free seating you need to guide your guests to where you need them to sit. You can keep them simple or use them to double up as favours by using individual gifts to display your guests names.
It is important to let your guests know what they will be eating, it is usual to include one menu per table and should tie in with your other stationery designs.
The traditional guest book has been replaced with lots of inventive and exciting ways to capture your guests good wishes for you. Why not use a photo booth, vintage typewriters, jigsaw puzzle pieces or posterwalls – let your imagination run wild!
Thank You Cards
A personal note from you both to thank your guests for their gifts and for sharing your special day with you. Order from your wedding stationer to keep in with your theme or have a picture taken on the day that you can send out as a card.
