Bath’s Historic Buildings are run by Bath & North Somerset Council and they offer a range of stunning and romantic venues within the centre of Bath, each distinctive and with its own historical interest, they are the perfect settings for wedding and partnership ceremonies. The Pump Room and Roman Baths, Assembly Rooms and Guildhall are all licensed, and later this year the Victoria Art Gallery will be licensed too.
The Council are keen to allow couples to explore their own ideas and whatever your individual requirements and preferences for your wedding day they will work with you to fulfill these, their aim is to make your day both individual and memorable. They are very flexible about hope the venues are used and they have even put together Sunrise & Sunset packages to reflect the recent changes to the Civil Ceremony laws.
Roman Baths, Kingston & Drawing Rooms
You are able to have a ceremony beside the Roman Baths at 8.30am or 7.30pm. Couples choosing an evening ceremony are required to also hold their reception with them. The Kingston Room and Drawing Room are available for ceremonies throughout the day. For an unforgettable day you could choose to hold a Sunrise ceremony at 8.30am around the torch-lit and steaming waters of the Roman Baths followed by a celebration breakfast in the Pump Room restaurant.
For an afternoon ceremony you could hire the Kingston Room or Drawing Room. Both are suitable for ceremonies for up to 40 people and these elegant rooms have an outlook over Bath Abbey. Ceremonies held in these rooms include the opportunity for photographs around the Roman Baths for the Bride and Groom, and can be followed by celebratory drinks in the adjacent room.
If you are looking for a ceremony and reception, you might like to take advantage of the Sunset wedding packages. The ceremony takes place at the Roman Baths at 7.30pm and a reception can follow, either on the atmospheric Terrace which overlooks the Great Bath, or for a larger event in the Pump Room.
The Assembly Rooms: The Ball Room, Tea Room & Great Octagon
At the Assembly Rooms ceremonies are available throughout the day and evening. The latest time a ceremony can be held without a reception on a Friday or Saturday is midday. For a grand and stunning setting the Assembly Rooms has a range of rooms, including the unique Great Octagon – one of the most popular venues in Bath for civil ceremonies for up to 120 guests.
The Guildhall: The Banqueting Room & Brunswick Room
The Banqueting Room and the Brunswick Room at the Guildhall are available all day and also in the evening. This beautiful venue boasts the finest Georgian interior in Bath. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the Aix-en-Provence room, before moving into the adjoining stunning Banqueting Room which can accommodate a maximum of 180 guests for dinner and dancing.
The Victoria Art Gallery
This is the public art gallery for Bath & North East Somerset, which has a particularly fine collection of art in its care. It is an interesting venue for a drinks reception following a ceremony and prior to a wedding reception in the Banqueting Room of the Guildhall or the Pump Room. It is available to hire from 6pm.
Please be aware that the registrar is not available to conduct ceremonies on New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday or Christmas Day and all venues are closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
