It is finally here. The day of the big reveal, I’ve been taunting you all with my countdown over the last few days. So, here it is, my BIG news is…………………..drumroll…………………
I’ve moving to Brighton!!!!!!!!!
Yes, that’s right Brighton! Today I am moving to the colourful city by the sea to create fabulously, sparkly, creative weddings, events and photoshoots. As you read this I am surrounded by boxes and I’m busy loading up my life into a little van to drive down to Brighton – with the help of my awesome dad. I have always lived in Oxfordshire so to make the move in my 39th year is a big step but one which I’m sure is going to be a decision I won’t regret.
So why the change? Well for the past year I have felt a little lost in both my personal and professional life. I felt like I was just plodding through life, not doing what I wanted to do or being where I wanted to be. I went through many changes during 2015 and to be honest I was not in a good place and it all came to a head in August – I was on my annual trip to visit Chris & Zach in Edinburgh and was enjoying the Fringe and all it’s wonders and delights. I was so excited that Le Gateau Chocolat had returned to the Fringe and even though I knew the latest show was not as up beat as the previous performances I had loved, I couldn’t wait to see his latest show Black.
Boy, I did not expect the emotional rollercoaster that I went on during the show, there were tears, some laughs and more tears but most importantly it really left me thinking – what am I doing with my life? I had so many questions and no answers but I knew something had to change. Over the next month or so I took time out, took a break from social media and my blog and I came up with a plan, I decided to move my life and my business to Brighton to reinvent myself.
Why Brighton? The pull of the city packed full of creative, coloured haired, fun loving weirdos has been so strong and walking through the streets while looking for a place to live, I finally felt at home and really felt like I fit in. Being near the sea was super important too, the sense of calm I feel when I am near it is overwhelming, it must the pisces in me, oh and did I mention that my favourite chocolate shop, Choccywoccydoodah, is also here!?!
So here my big adventure begins, for the first time I have no plans or agenda for what happens next and I’m so excited to see what 2016 will bring for me!
Over the coming months I am going to be busy exploring the city, making new wedding contacts, new friends, finding new opportunities, hairdressers, nail bars, the go to cocktail bars and everything else that there is to be discovered – so hit me up with your recommendations and check out my feeds for #RubyLovesBrighton to keep up with my adventures – I can’t bloody wait!
